Family History Paper Instructions
Overview:
This paper will be a reflection on your family history and will help you see how
your own culture has helped shape your identity.
Assignment directions:
Write a 3-4 page paper on your own family\u2019s history. You may take either or both
sides of your family. Develop a written account of historical events of your family
through interviews with your immediate relatives and analysis of family
documents. Include background characteristics of your family. Also, be sure to
address the following topics:
1. How does your family view the role of religion and education in its members?
Does everyone share these views?
2. Has anyone in your family married someone of a different race, nationality,
religion or social class background? If so, how did that affect family
relationships?
3. Has anyone in your family ever had to care for a family member during
illness? During their old age?
4. Do you view yourself as someone who carries the same family values or do
you see yourself more as someone transitioning your values?
5. How have you seen the topics discussed in the first half of this course at play
in your family history?
Formatting:
Your paper should:
\u2022 Follow all APA formatting guidelines
\u2022 3-4 typed, double-spaced pages
\u2022 One-inch margins
\u2022 12-point font, composed in a word processing program
\u2022 Include your name, date, title, and assignment title in APA style on a title page
\u2022 Be written in your own words, not a restatement of what is in the text or
