The Catholic Church teaches that the inspiration of the biblical text by the Holy Spirit does not exclude the character, personality, perspectives, and even limitations of the human author. For this Biblical Genre Module, you will be required to author a creation narrative as well as critical commentary in which you identify the author, context, and textual details that are important for understanding your text. Creativity, both literary and artistic, is strongly encouraged.<\/p>\n<p> Requirements:<\/p>\n<p> Creation Manuscript (approx. 400-700 words)<\/p>\n<p> Narrative elements<\/p>\n<p> Genre: poetry or prose<\/p>\n<p> Explananda: <\/p>\n<p> The emergence of the created order<\/p>\n<p> The order of nature and natural things<\/p>\n<p> Celestial bodies<\/p>\n<p> Cycles of time<\/p>\n<p> Flora and Fauna<\/p>\n<p> Human beings<\/p>\n<p> Theological elements<\/p>\n<p> Characterization of God<\/p>\n<p> God\u2019s mode of creating<\/p>\n<p> God\u2019s relationship to humanity<\/p>\n<p> Textual Commentary (approx. 400-700 words)<\/p>\n<p> Historical context<\/p>\n<p> Authorship\/Composition information<\/p>\n<p> Form analysis<\/p>\n<p> Poetic\/prose features<\/p>\n<p> Structure<\/p>\n<p> Pattern<\/p>\n<p> Literary analysis<\/p>\n<p> Character<\/p>\n<p> Setting<\/p>\n<p> Tone<\/p>\n<p> Imagery<\/p>\n<p> Linguistic analysis<\/p>\n<p> Vocabulary<\/p>\n<p> Meaning of proper names<\/p>\n<p> Assessment: <\/p>\n<p> Creation Myth (40 pts) \u2013 You will be graded on the internal content of the narrative in terms of both the requirements listed above and the sophistication and care with which you execute them<\/p>\n<p> Commentary (40 pts) \u2013 You will be graded on how well you explain the narrative and provide relevant information necessary for interpretating the text of your narrative.<\/p>\n<p> Creativity (20 pts) \u2013 You will be graded on how much thought you put into making your narrative and commentary interesting, compelling, literarily elegant, and artistically presented.
