Part I Observation of child (ages birth-12 yrs.). <\/p>\n

You can watch \u201cHome Alone\u201d,\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI Am Sam\u201d, \u201cCheaper by the Dozen\u201d, \u201cLittle Miss Sunshine\u201d, or \u201cRoom\u201d.<\/p>\n
\uf0a0The child can be a family member, friend, or relative. THE CHILD CAN\u2019T BE YOUR OWN CHILD. Please explain the purpose of the observation to the child\u2019s caretaker beforehand and obtain permission before beginning your observation. \u2028<\/p>\n
\uf0a0It is recommended that you observe the child for a minimum of 45 minutes. If possible, observe the child interacting w\/other children, friends or family members, as this will be more informative. \u2028<\/p>\n
\uf0a0You can speak with the child\u2019s caregiver to gather basic demographic information (age, ethnicity, SES status, educational level of parents, # of siblings, if the child attends school, parent occupation, etc.) and additional information on the child\u2019s functioning. \u2028<\/p>\n
\uf0a0Based on your observations, you will analyze the child\u2019s cognitive, social and emotional development, using three (3) theories discussed in class (lecture or text). <\/p>\n

Part II\uf020\uf0a0You will then write up your observations and analysis (4-5 pages, double spaced, 12 point font).\u2028<\/p>\n
It is recommended that you use 1\u20442 page for basic demographic information, and one page for each of the three theory-based analyses. Make sure to briefly describe each theory (one paragraph) before launching into your analysis. <\/p>\n

Also remember to support your analysis with specific observations. \u2028<\/p>\n
