I had never seen anything as big and perfect as the Pacific. There were sands as fine as talc and water as clear as glass. The sand is grayish-white and so hard to walk in. I was so happy with the sand. My feet would sink into the sand and get buried for a few inches at least.

When it was almost sunset, Helen and I sat by the shore and looked out at the desert. Our feet were buried in the sand, and we watched the sunset while sipping iced tea. As the sun set behind us, we sat quietly, listening to the waves. The cool breeze whipped through my hair as I stared at the sky. The scene was peaceful, as the sky became dotted with stars as the sky got darker and darker. My cousin got up to play in the sand, and I followed. We dug for earthworms, smaller fish, and crabs, our feet crushing and squishing everything we had found. We were excited that day and wanted to plunge deeper into the sand.

However, I have had anger issues since I was a younger boy due to my parents’ neglect. When Helen knocked down the sand castle that had taken me hours to sculpt from the LA Paz sand, out of anger, I pushed her, and her head hit a rock. She lay there with blood coming from her head as I stood there horror-struck. I heard a familiar scream coming from my aunt. As I turned around to tell her to please be quiet, she was already helping the unconscious cousin on the rock. I rushed to help her as my aunt said, “Go for the car.” My aunt was screaming, and Chacha was pulling at me from behind with Helen in his arms- unconscious.

I suddenly realized how my cousin had been severely injured upon hitting the rock. My sensibility had kicked in as if I was watching the drama unfold. After administering first aid on our way to the Emergency room, I realized I needed help and had to get help for my anger issues. My mother was in the Emergency room, and my father was still on the road. I sat in the Emergency room for a few hours with Chacha- my favorite cousin, as my aunt reacted and had been there for the last few hours. They admitted that it was just a small cut and that she would be fine after a few stitches.

After that, I decided to join an anger management therapy program, and with a little support from my friends, it transformed my life. From my behavioral therapy experience, I learned that anyone, despite their age or class, could get different interventions for anger management. My parents realized I was different and had to accept me for who I was, which helped mold my personality and behavior. They never forgave me and still blame me for the accident, but that is fine. I was not trying to change myself in any way; my personality and way of thinking were okay, and I was okay being who I was. My life changed through that incident.

LastName 1 LastName 2 FirstName LastName Instructor’s Name Course Title 29 November 2022 Through The Blinds As my family and I walked together on the sand of La Paz beach, I was ecstatic at the beach.
