Final Paper: Why LIN210?<\/p>\n
Pick three topics that we have covered in the course this semester. Write a persuasive essay to the President of BMCC in which you argue why the topic of bilingualism is important to BMCC students, focusing on the three topics you have chosen. <\/p>\n
For each of these topics, describe what you learned about them in detail and explain why they are important or relevant to BMCC students. Think about how these topics have helped you to understand the ways that people use language(s) in your family, neighborhood, classrooms, work and in NYC. <\/p>\n
Support your argument with at least 3 specific readings that we have covered this semester. You can also use some of the videos as support. These should be cited in your paper. You can also include additional readings to help you make your points. <\/p>\n
Include at least one quote from each of the three readings you pick. <\/p>\n
This final paper is an opportunity for you to review what we have done this semester and for you to synthesize your thoughts about topics that have been particularly meaningful or important to you. Please show me in your essays that you have acquired some knowledge or new ways of thinking and that these topics have helped you think about the field of criminal justice in a new way. You can also point out the questions you still have about these topics or ideas that these readings have raised in your mind that you hope to learn more about in your future studies or career. <\/p>\n
Your final paper should be at least 4 pages. It should be double spaced 12 point Times New Roman Font. <\/p>\n
You are able to submit a draft for feedback before submitting the final version. I will provide you with more information about this as the semester goes on.<\/p>\n
You will be assessed on the following:<\/p>\n
Content \u2013 did you choose 3 topics and fully discuss why each is important or relevant to a BMCC student? Do you clearly relate to the readings you have chosen in each topic?<\/p>\n
Organization \u2013 does your paper have a beginning, middle and end? Are the paragraphs organized in a logical way? Does the paper meet the page requirement (remember this is a WI course). <\/p>\n
Style \u2013 Is the language of the paper acceptable for a college essay? Be sure to proof your writing for spelling mistakes or unclear sentences. Ask yourself: would it be ok to send this paper as it is written to the President of BMCC?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
