The purpose of this presentation is to pitch your proposed strategy\/solution to sustainability professionals in order to:<\/p>\n
a) Convince them that you have a great strategy\/solution; and,<\/p>\n
b) Elicit feedback on how to maximize the chance of success.<\/p>\n
The presentation is a group project.<\/p>\n

What to include:\u00a0<\/p>\n
We are not prescribing a specific\u00a0template\u00a0(a specific number of slides or the exact content to include) because creativity often sets you apart and gets your ideas noticed. However, we can provide a\u00a0framework\u00a0of things to include that would be important to convince the experts that you understand the problem and have a viable solution. This include:<\/p>\n
Define the problem and identify problem significance (why should be address it?)<\/p>\n
What shapes the problem (context, key influences)?<\/p>\n
Who are the key actors and what is their relationship to the problem and to each other?<\/p>\n
What has been tried before and why did it fail?<\/p>\n
Identify THREE proposed solutions and why each is a good ‘fit’?<\/p>\n
How does your solution work? How would it be implemented?<\/p>\n
What are the opportunities and barriers to implementation for each solution?<\/p>\n
What do you need to know before implementing each solution? (e.g. what additional research needs to be done?)<\/p>\n
Sound familiar? Yes, the presentation draws together all your work from throughout the course.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind that not all the above questions deserve equal time. While you will have to set the context and set up the problem (the focus of the research) you don\u2019t want to spend too much time on this. The bulk of the presentation should be talking about your contribution. Tell the audience about what you bring to the table (better understanding, lessons from previous attempts to address the problem, your proposed solutions etc.). In short, focus most of the time on the contribution that you are making to addressing the sustainability problem you are investigating.<\/p>\n

The class will be broken into two groups. Group 1 will present during the workshop on Monday, November 28. Group 2 will present during the workshop on Monday, December 5.\u00a0<\/p>\n
