What do the author’s want to research? (Example #1: Kohn & Marion (2022) decided to research the relationship between drug use and severe mental health) (Example #2: The purpose of the research by Kohn & Marion (2022) was to determine how many people with severe mental illness also use drugs to aid in their symptoms.

Rationale-How do the authors justify the need for this research? Kohn & Marion (2022) noted that there was a paucity of research done on this topic, as well as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) suggesting more inquiry be explored. In addition, Cagney & Lacey (2021) indicated that this is an “emerging societal problem” that needed further exploration (p.233). Note how the rationale is derived from published sources. You cannot give a rationale that is your own, because this is just opinion. You must always have a published source for the rationale.

Significance-How might this research benefit society? Other researchers, etc.? Example: Other researchers in the field believe that answers to the relationship between drug use and mental illness could “allow clinicians to design treatment plans of a dual nature” (Forrest & Gump, 2021, p. 653).

Method: One paragraph that explains the research method administered

a. Type of subjects (specific demographics of subjects (age, race, etc.)

b. Where did they solicit subjects (location?

c. Was there a location where the research took place?

f.
