Essay 2: Analysis and Research Approach <\/p>\n
Intro\/Background:
Essay 2 is a bit unconventional, or at least probably not what you are expecting. One of the most important things we can do when entering into research and preparing to present an argument to an audience is to do some work to analyze the issue we are engaging and those who we need to address.\u00a0
So, this essay should allow you a chance to do that. It will ask you to analyze the research you have done thus far (including everything you discovered in Essay 1). It will also ask you to really think about the concerns of your stakeholders so that you can understand their beliefs and concerns and better attend to those when you develop your argumentative paper.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
The Assignment:\u00a0
Essay 2 will require you to do the following:
Present your research question. You are leading to an argument (your next paper), so your question should be one that is arguable, not just fact finding. This question should be specific enough that you can focus on it in one paper with thorough research and logical discussion – it could be about a policy change, change to a process or system, etc. <\/p>\n
Present the need to find an answer to this question or to create this change. So, you may need to provide some background as to how\/why this is important. <\/p>\n
Present the main stakeholders and what their concerns and positions are. Where do they \u2018sit\u2019 on this issue and why? <\/p>\n
Analyze and discuss your research so far. What direction is the research pointing you and what other information do you still need to gather? This might mean noticing and discussing some more information you need to unearth, finding different opinions or analysis within the topic\/issue, getting better handle on contextual issues, etc.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Requirements
900 – 1500 words Calibri 11 point font (this is a minimum, you may go over).\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Research included that is well integrated and cited correctly.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Well organized and written with few to no mechanical errors and evidence of care of craft. <\/p>\n
