“Young Goodman Brown” Prompt Questions:
1. Since it’s an allegory, there are many symbols in this story. Discuss the meaning of Faith’s name, her pink ribbons, the old man\/snake staff, and the path\/trail (which, notably, is through the woods at night). <\/p>\n
2. What revelation does Brown have, and what conclusion does he draw as a result? Have you known people who lost their faith in God (or respect for their parents or minister) in a similar (if less dramatic) way? If so, relate that to Brown’s experience. <\/p>\n
