For this “Call and Response” you will play the role of an artist’s agent. Your job is to introduce to the “Record Company” (the rest of the class) the artist you represent, and convince the record company to sign your artist to a lucrative record deal. (If your artist is already signed, realize we are a “bigger” deal and getting signed to our label will be a big promotion!)
(1) While most of us a favorite artists we would be happy to represent, for the sake of this discussion, try to chose an artist new to you, one you discovered in this module. In pitching your artist to our record company, include some information about the artist’s background (prior experience, genre, musical strengths, short bio, etc.). Make the case that not only will your artist be successful but also, will make an historical mark, perhaps change the course of popular music, and support this with aesthetic or anecdotal examples.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
