“The Story of an Hour,”\u00a0Trifles, and “The Yellow Wallpaper” all take place inside a house and almost entirely within one room of that house. Entering through a door or gazing out a window may play a significant part of the action. Write an essay in which you focus on domestic space and women’s confinement in this period of US history, comparing at least two of these stories.

Based on the topic above, compose a 950 word literary analysis essay that supports an argumentative thesis about the two domestic places. Your essay must include the following:

MLA format from the first page through the works cited page.
An introductory paragraph that introduces the concept that you will be discussing, the author\u2019s name and the title of the work. Plays are\u00a0italicized\u00a0when making reference to them because, like a book, they are considered a major work. Short stories are placed in quotation marks.
An argumentative thesis that has depth, significance, and debatablility. The thesis cannot be something obvious and superficial that anyone could figure by one quick reading of the stories. Rather, the thesis must show complexity and depth.
Each body paragraph must include a topic sentence (main idea) that helps to support the thesis.
Each body paragraph must use the PPP (Point, Proof, Purpose) technique. This means that each body paragraph must AMPLE direct quotation from the play or story, in proper format, with correct in text citations.
Review pp. 1918-1934 on thesis, intro, comparison contrast, body, and conclusion.
The intro, body paragraphs, and conclusions should NOT RETELL the plot. As you draft your essay, remember this: you read the play and stories, your classmates read the play and stories, and I have read the play and stories; therefore, retelling of plot is elementary and absolutely unnecessary. Instead of focusing on retelling the plot, focus on providing support and discussion for your argumentative thesis statement.
