These programs include: 1) special education, 2) English Language Learners, 3) students being served under Section 504, and 4) gifted\/talented programs.\u00a0 Candidates write a research paper about\u00a0a topic within\u00a0one categorical program that includes: 1) rights and responsibilities of stakeholders, 2) laws that inform categorical programs (e.g., IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, etc.) 3) professional and collaborative procedures for inclusion of students in categorical programs, and 4) implications for candidates in their special or general education classrooms.
