The coaching role of organizational leaders is important; “command and control is the name of the game, and the goal is to direct and develop employees who understand how the business works and are able to reproduce its previous successes” (Ibarra, Scoular, 2019). A leader with the ability to coach gives employees the opportunity to understand the “why” or reasoning behind their position and actions in an organization. In essence, this explains why behavior and purpose are both equally critical to the development of employees for an organization’s future. Lyons (2012) describes a leader who “made his mark on the organization and leaves behind talented people who will, in turn, make their mark into the future. For this to come about, the accomplished leader made time to pass on learning to others”.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
“Worldviews should fit what we know about the world outside us and the world we find within us” (Nash, 2010). Global competence can be based on a leader’s worldview. If a leader takes the time to explore the world and people’s different perspectives, they will have the ability to drastically affect their employees because of the knowledge they have gained by experiencing different views. Therefore, a leader needs to experience as many different worldviews and people as possible to understand better how their employees think and explain to the employees their role within the organization. Leaders should be competent in the different worldviews, habits, and lifestyles, to name a few factors that play a role in employee decision making.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
“The most important and obvious case of mentoring to be found anywhere in the Bible is the story of Jesus and his disciples. It was the disciples who would ultimately go out in the world and found Christianity and they were called for this purpose specifically. For them to accomplish this, they had to be mentored properly, and they were by none other than the son of God” (Womack-El, 2019). Jesus is a mentor. He focused on the “why” to get people, especially His disciples, to understand who God is and why it is critical for Him to be at the forefront of life. He did this through teachings and examples of miracles, proving His words to be true and that He should be followed as the son of man. <\/p>\n
