When you write an argument, your goal is to use persuasive evidence that will help your opposition understand and accept your point of view. Using strong, logical, credible evidence is important in helping your opposition concede your perspective. <br \/>In this assignment you will use the NROC Unit 4 explorations to practice creating and supporting an arguable thesis. <br \/>You should spend approximately 2 hours on this assignment. <br \/>Instructions <br \/>Complete the NROC Unit 4: Introduction, Pre-Reading, Active Reading, Post-Reading, Review, Pre-Writing, and Writing Center activities before participating in this discussion. You will use your answers to the My Journal questions and the Writing Center in NROC to help you in this discussion. <\/p>\n<p>Think: Use the Pre-Writing section and Writing Center in NROC Unit 4 to create and revise an outline of a multi-paragraph essay that argues a position on Kara Woodridge\u2019s blog article, \u201cSocial Media: Friend or Foe?\u201d Your outline should be persuasive and detailed, showing various reasons that support the same topic and logical evidence that backs up your opinion. <\/p>\n<p>Write:\u00a0Your outline should plan for five\u00a0paragraphs: <br \/>Paragraph 1: Offer an interesting introduction of the social media topic and your take on it. Your thesis should state your arguable position on the topic. <\/p>\n<p>Paragraphs 2, 3, and 4: Outline main points\/reasons that develop your assertions, evidence to support them, and analysis explaining how the evidence supports the main point. <\/p>\n<p>Paragraph 5: Include a concluding remark that gives a final interesting thought on your topic. <\/p>\n<p>Tips: <br \/>If you need information on how to create an outline, visit the Purdue OWL\u2019s\u00a0Four Main Components for Effective Outlines\u00a0page and then review the OWL\u2019s\u00a0sample outlines. You can also consult this\u00a0NROC Unit 4 Resource:\u00a0Outlining an Essay. <\/p>\n<p>Use complete sentences to express your ideas. You will not write an entire essay for this assignment, but your thinking and reasoning should be clear. <\/p>\n<p>Post one original post, and reply to at least two of your classmates on at least two separate days. Your replies to peers should each be 4-5 sentences. In your replies to peers, give feedback on the position argument ideas presented. Does the thesis make a clear argumentative claim about the topic? Does the outline show clear reasons and evidence to support that thesis? <\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget that your initial posting is due by the date listed in the\u00a0Course Schedule. Please post over several days.
