I would look at her and smile because I knew that I was not going to do that. However, I worried about her declining health because of her age ninety-nine. No matter who, what or where she was if you did not do what she asked you to do as in making a visitor something to eat or sweep the floor she would get up and do it herself, which made you do it to prevent her from hurting herself even more. Anytime I would ask my grandmother how she was doing, she would just say “I am here trying to make it,” that always told me that she was in pain or just did not feel too well that day but, she would not let you know that verbally. When it was time for her to go to bed, that is when things changed, she would be very uncomfortable at night, in pain to the point that it would increase her anxiety levels and make her feel even worse. If she was in pain while lying down, I was ecstatic that I was able to apply knowledge from my Nursing Assistant class, on how to turn her on her sides or make her feel as comfortable as she could be, to get through the night. That is something that I do not regret because I felt accomplished that not only did I learn something but also, I was able to apply those concepts to help my grandmother relieve her pain.
My grandmother was my most prize possession growing up. Seeing how she took care of people regardless of their situation molded me into the person I am today. My grandmother had 11 children and even took in all of her grandchildren. The older I became, I never understood how she could take in more children and adults with no issues. The day that I asked her about this, she would say, “They have to eat gal.” That made me laugh because eventually, I understood what she meant by that. Seeing people homeless or even children who do not know where their last meal will be coming from touched my heart because my grandmother’s words always stayed with me about making sure people can eat. My grandmother took care of everybody else and never bothered taking care of herself. Eventually, my grandmother became sick due to her congestive heart failure, heart attack and then a stroke, which eventually led to her premature death. After the last stroke she had, I remembered the frantic look on my mothers’ face wondering if that day would be the last day, we would ever see her. My grandmother did make it pass the stroke but, she started to become weaker and unable to do the things that she loved to do which was taking care of others; she did not like the fact that she had to depend on someone else to take care of her. Even though, I was hurt, confused and angry that she was leaving this earth, I was ecstatic that I had the knowledge to assist my mother with making my grandmother comfortable in her final days of life. The day that my grandmother passed away had me questioning many things, how could someone who was a provider, nurturer, independent and caring diminish so quickly? What caused her to have a stroke and heart attack? Could I have done more to prevent this if I had the knowledge on how to take care of someone who had congestive heart failure? Because of the relationship, I had with her, the personal experience made me get more involved in healthcare. Every day in Urgent Care, I see so many patients who come in for many different things. They are in so much pain or scared because they do not know what is going on with them. Sometimes they are angry but, every day I want to make sure that they leave Urgent Care feeling better or calm about a diagnosis that they have received. When I started asking myself how I can intervene to make this situation better for the patient, I knew that becoming a healthcare professional would do just that. Becoming a Physician Assistant with healthcare knowledge and personality would help me treat my patients with as much care as I am able too.
When I was a little girl, I knew that I wanted to be a healthcare professional but I never knew what profession would be best for me. However, I knew that there would be a lot of dedication and sacrifices to succeed in any health profession. Even though I was so passionate and determined to be a healthcare provider, it was not until I started working at Physicians East Urgent Care that I knew I wanted to be a Physician Assistant. At first, I wanted to become a Registered Nurse and then eventually a Nurse Practitioner but, honestly my heart was not fully there. When I applied for multiple nursing programs, it
just did not feel like it was enough for me. Nevertheless, I met my first Physician Assistant at Urgent Care and she guided me to this path. I loved how flexible she was with her schedule. It seemed that as a MD, I do not know if they have as much time to spend with their family as a PA would. I do not have a husband or kids today but, eventually I will and when the time comes, I want to be able to have time for them as well as my patients who would need me just as much. That is something that I know I would love to be a part of. The biggest thing that I learned also about being a Physician Assistant is that, I do not have to be restricted to one specialty like a Practitioner. I want to be involved in Women’s health and Obstetrics as well as orthopedics and becoming a Physician Assistant will help me with that. I also admire how caring Physicians Assistants are, I love how they seem to spend more time with their patients and working in Urgent Care that is all I hear is compliments about how amazing our Physician Assistant is. This solidified my decision on becoming a Physician Assistant.
Giving the opportunity to work with Doctors and Physician Assistants has made me thankful that they even considered giving me a job to not only learn but to create friendships and mentors that have guided me to become better. Being able to assist with splints, irrigating wounds, crutches, ace wrapping a patients arm or leg shown me how it would be as a Physician Assistant due to a doctor supervising me. I also have learned from my experience with my Grandmother, as well as college and continuing education giving me the professional skills to be able to handle any situation that would come my way as a healthcare professional. I believe in myself that I have the qualifications, personality and great potential to become a Physician Assistant. With the motivation, dedication, passion and most of all ambition will prove that I will be a magnificent Physician Assistant.

this is my Admission Essay to get into Physician Assistant school I have already written the personal statement I just need help Rewriting it or editing it into a Graduate level paper “Make sure gal everyone has something to eat,” my grandmother would say this when people in the neighborhood would stop by to visit […]

[1
10
post-25274","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-research-paper-writing","tag-writing
["GET
