Since senior-level administrators often read these papers, faculty, orgoverning boards with little expertise in student affairs, our ability to present arguments clearly, concisely,and convincingly (with appropriate documentation) is extremely important. <br \/> Paper GuidelinesAn issue paper is to identify and discuss an important and current issue in student affairs and higher education.\u00a0 <br \/>Must focus on an issue other than multicultural\/diversity issues. <br \/>To prepare an issue paper, you will want to read and possibly conduct interviews. Sources for\u00a0securing information on issues include (but are not limited to): Journal of College Student Development, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Journal, National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASAP) Journal, Journal Initiatives (the journal of the National Association of Women in Education), The Journal of Higher Education, Journal of Counseling and Development, The Journal of College and University Student Housing, Change, College and University, About Campus, Phi Delta Kappan, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. Since a major purpose of this assignment is to introduce you to the profession\u2019s literature base, citations from the popular press (e.g. Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone) should be minimized. You may utilize electronic resources on the World Wide Web. <br \/>The paper length should be 2 double-spaced pages\u2014including references. You may dedicate one page to the \u201cpro\u201d side of the issue and one page to the \u201ccon\u201d side of the issue you are considering. <br \/>Reference style must follow the professional guidelines as given in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.), 2020. At least one reference is required for each of the \u201cpro\u201d and \u201ccon\u201d stance supported in the paper. As mentioned above, you may wish to include information from interviews as well. <br \/>Your writing style and analytic abilities are the most important aspects of these papers.
