PURPOSE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The purpose of this assignment is to have you employ the methodology for making a compelling argument, demonstrating why your point is relevant, and why your position on the topic is more feasible than the opposing point of view.<\/p>\n

ASSIGNMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Explore a challenging issue or topic by\u00a0identifying<\/u>\u00a0it and taking a stand on\u00a0one side<\/u>\u00a0of the matter in question. Your goal is to persuade the audience to side with you. You will want to utilize effective rhetoric in your effort to persuade and incorporate the concepts of ethos, pathos,\u00a0<\/em>and logos<\/em>. You may select a topic that is social, political, professional, medical, educational, controversial and even mythical. Whatever the case, make it a topic of interest and be as creative as you want within the confines of the assignment; however, you must\u00a0research valid sources of information to support your position. In addition, you\u00a0are required to\u00a0submit your speech topic in advance both for approval (for assurance that it is, in fact, a topic for persuasion), and to avoid duplicate presentations.<\/p>\n

Craft a five to seven-minute speech using PowerPoint\u00a0or a similar application\u00a0in which you will: (1) Brief the audience on the issue you select; (2) Inform the audience\u00a0as to both sides of the issue; and (3) then explain\u00a0your position, persuading as to why your side is more appealing. You will want to organize interesting information around key points, while including supporting details. Please incorporate researched information to support your position (not Berko et al.<\/strong>), and include a reference\u00a0page in the slideshow.\u00a0Do not\u00a0include\u00a0superfluous information that is nonessential to the speech and to your audience.\u00a0Remember, you will be honing your speech down to approximately five minutes, which is a challenge in itself. The criteria are below.<\/p>\n
