Management policies and practices that create and sustain a desirable organizational culture, establish equitable compensation policies, maintain effective organizational communication, maintain secure information technology protocols (e.g., addressing cybersecurity challenges), and provide promotional equity (e.g., some work in organizations simply cannot be performed in a hybrid manner), are among the many large and small issues executives and managers will be forced to address if a hybrid model of work is adopted.
Recognizing that you have recently completed a university degree with a focus on evidence-based management preparing you to use research and strong critical thinking skills to address organizational problems, the CEO of your publicly-owned financial services company has requested that you prepare a business research report that identifies the full scope of employment and management issues, presents alternatives, and recommends specific actions to prepare the company to be a leader in its industry in a post-pandemic business environment involving both continued employment of the majority of its pre-pandemic employees (the majority of whom have been working from home for a year) as well as introducing many new hires with no work experience.
Managers (executives to first line supervisors) will ultimately be the audience for this report. But time is a critical issue as the company’s board of directors has directed the CEO to address this topic at the September 6 board meeting, so the CEO has set noon September 3 as the absolute deadline to submit the report. Recognizing that this is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your value as a manager, you plan submit your paper no later than the deadline, and even earlier to gain a favorable reaction to reflect your appreciation of the CEO’s sense of urgency.
The text of the report must be fewer than 1,500 words, double-spaced text, not including the one-page Executive Summary and Reference pages, but it must succinctly address the scope of issues, possible alternatives, and recommended actions. A business research report citing fewer than 20 relevant and credible sources of facts or opinions will lack credibility. All references must be in APA format, both those cited within the text and the references pages. All writing must be your original work since the CEO in presenting the report to the board of directors does want to be accused of being a plagiarist. This is your first business report in the real world of work, so you naturally turn first to an available internet source to refresh your memory of a report format, etc.: (https://blog.bit.ai/business-report/ (Links to an external site.)). A coworker shared a recent McKinsey online report about hybrid work to give you a starting point for your thinking: (https://www.mckinsey.com/featured-insights/future-of-work/whats-next-for-remote-work-an-analysis-of-2000-tasks-800-jobs-and-nine-countries (Links to an external site.) ).

One question that is on the mind of many office workers today is “What if we never go back to regularly working in an office”. In a May 2021 survey reported by the consulting company Accenture, 83% of workers indicated that they want to be employed in “hybrid” work.
