This should be told chronologically. Start with your earliest memories.
What is the first time you remember being read to. What was the book?
Who was reading it? Then share about the first time you tried to read.
It could be when you guessed at words based on the pictures. It could be
the first word you were able to sound out. Be sure to think of this
through the lens of your emotions and how you thought about reading at
each point in your journey. Maybe there was a book that opened up your
love for reading. Maybe you loved reading until you were forced to read
in certain situations. Maybe read aloud in class was hard for you. Maybe
you have snuggled with a learning disability. Maybe you felt ashamed by
being in a certain reading group or maybe you were affirmed for
reading. What were these events and why did they affect you in this way?
There is no right or wrong path. This is simply a way to examine what
events led you to see yourself as someone who loves to read or as
someone who does not like to read. <\/p>\n
