By contrast, most studies show that traditional Native cultures, for example, tend to be past oriented (the past affects the present), focused on\u00a0being\u00a0rather than constantly going, doing, changing.\u00a0 Traditional native cultures tend to emphasize group relationships– extended family\/friend connections, and aspire to be in harmony with nature.\u00a0 They tend to believe that people are fundamentally good (e.g., Russo, 2000a).
These are just two of dozens of seemingly opposite cultural value orientations that co-exist worldwide in most or all countries, including the USA.\u00a0 (Remember, Native cultures exist on every continent on the planet.)\u00a0 <\/p>\n
