Psalm 122:7 states, “Peace be within your walls and security within your towers” (ESV). The writing of Psalms is generally attributed to King David in ancient Israel. The verse is referring to a city, Jerusalem. This is very clearly indicating a physical threat, possibly a surrounding unfriendly nation or group of people. However, threats may come from a variety of attackers and in many forms. Psalm 9:10 says, “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you” (NIV).

a.) Review the specific Bible passages.

b.) Be sure to address the following prompts in your paper:

· In the context of our world today, and particularly technology, where are today’s threats likely to come from?

· Security is “within your towers,” so how can we work to assure that “peace,” or security?

c.) Considering your cultural/religious background, what is your personal view regarding God protecting us humans? Explain your opinion and provide examples if possible.

d.) Your paper should be at least 250 words in length.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

2.1 Assignment

We see sinful behavior all around us, including in the virtual world. The Scriptures warn us about evil practices. When one thinks of information systems security, a biblical verse that encourages us to prepare for a hacker or attacker is not usually considered, but consider Proverbs 2:11, “Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you” (NIV). In addition, Psalm 34:19 states, “The righteous person may have troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all” (NIV). When we are vigilant, God promises to bless our efforts.

a.) Review the specific Bible passages.

b.) Be sure to address to the following prompts in your paper:

· Considering your religious/cultural background, what do you see as God’s role in our security efforts?

· What does the Bible say we need to do for God’s blessing?

· How would you apply the principles of these verses in your workplace?

c.) Your paper should be at least 250 words in length.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

3.1 Assignment

During the COVID-19 stay-at-home requirements, many people worked from home. To carry on business, companies utilized various web-based meeting tools (such as Zoom). Some of these tools lacked robust security. A company, being proactive, sought to assure security against those attempting to take over such sessions.

In Christianity, God brings to mind those things we need to ensure protection against, including issues related to computer security. We again look to the word of God for Scripture that tells us that safety can be found in the Lord. Psalm 140:4 says, “Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet” (NIV). We find in the Bible the admonition to seek the Lord in our activities as protection from those that would trick us.

a.) Review the specific Bible passages.

b.) Be sure to address the following prompts in your paper:

· How do you see this verse applying to the attackers’ attempts at social engineering?

· How would you apply the principles of these verses in your workplace?

c.) Your paper should be at least 250 words in length.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

4.1 Assignment

The scriptures suggest that you “train up a child in the way they should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6, ESV). Training is considered important in maintaining a healthy perspective in life. So too can training of employees provide many benefits. A security awareness program provided to employees is designed to teach the user community to recognize someone attempting to compromise their system. Training is suggested as a good method of being prepared. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, “Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train your yourself for godliness” (ESV). We do not wish to be uninformed, and therefore we train ourselves. Deuteronomy 4:9 goes on to encourage us to “only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life” (ESV). The Bible recommends preparing oneself for knowing what is right, through training.

a.) Review the specific Bible passages.

b.) Be sure to address the following prompts in your paper:

· How does keeping your soul diligently and training for godliness compare to training used in the workplace?

· How might you apply the principles presented in these verses to prepare a security awareness program?

c.) Your paper should be at least 250 words in length.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

5.1 Assignment

One of the most interesting verses in the Bible’s Old Testament that concerns preparation is found in Proverbs 24:6, where we read, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps” (NIV). The verse seems to indicate that nothing we do is really of our own design, but rather that the Lord has a plan for us. However, we also see the need to plan emphasized when we compare that verse to Proverbs 13:6, “A wise man thinks ahead; a fool does not, and even brags about it” (NIV).

a.) Review the specific Bible passages.

b.) Be sure to address the following prompts in your paper:

Compare the two verses from Proverbs above to the discussions on security of our assets.

How might you apply the principles emphasized in these verses in your own workplace?

c.) Your paper should be at least 250 words in length.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

6.1 Assignment

The Scriptures encourage we live in honesty, in truth. This applies to work as well as our interactions with friends and family. We should always be practitioners of honesty and ethical behavior. One of our guiding principles should be that we are concerned with the truth. How do we know the truth? Psalm 1:2 says, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night” (ESV). “His delight is in the law of the Lord” refers to our constant, vigilant effort to maintain our integrity.

a.) Review the specific Bible passages.

b.) Be sure to address the following prompts in your paper:

How might this verse impact your work as an IT professional?

How would you apply the principles of this verse to your personal life as well as professional?

c.)
