At least two of them need to be from the 20th and 21st centuries. Thus, if you are choosing one from the 19th century or earlier, that is fine, but the other two need to be from the 20th century and\/or 21st century. This breadth will even out your analysis and deepen your purpose.Process:You do not need to analyze the poems in all their poetic aspects (images, figurative language, symbolism, diction, word choice, etc) but should sustain a discussion of the themes you\u2019ve chosen to develop and the aspects you find most relevant to your understanding of poetry.You can focus on an overarching theme with aspects of multiple texts supporting parts of that larger theme.You can focus on aspects of related themes with evidence from individual poems supporting each.Consider returning to the Notetakers and DBQs for the poems you choose to find evidence.Consider choosing poets whose lives seem especially different or opposed.Narrow down a list a your favorite poems from this unit.Categorize the poems by theme.
