Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to conduct a review of the literature with resources
from the Saudi Digital Library.
Overview
The literature review identifies and synthesizes work that is relevant to your research
question. It provides the foundation upon which your research is built. Appropriate
sources include journals that publish work that has been reviewed by the authors’ peers.
Many of these journals are available through the Saudi Digital Library. When searching
for relevant work, use key words from your research question to search for articles. Scan
the article’s abstract to determine how well the study applies to your research question.
If the article applies to your research question, use the literature review chart template to
record the most important findings and conclusions. Begin with the complete citation in
the style your university or department specifies. Then note the purpose of the research
or the research question. This should support some aspect of your research question.
Then list the participants and, if appropriate, the type of data analysis. For example, was a
content analysis completed that compared the work of two translators? Did it result in
qualitative or quantitative data? Next, record the major findings and draw any
conclusions that occur to you as you compare one article to the next.

Read the instructor’s comments on your first assignment. Make the necessary
revisions\/changes based on the comments.
Now start with your second assignment by studying the materials we covered in
week 5 and week 6 (slides are uploaded on the blackboard). Study the materials
carefully before you start with this assignment.

Find 6-10 research studies (based on group size, as approved by your instructor)
related to your research topic:
Use Saudi Digital Library or any academic research engine such as Google
Scholar to find the research studies that support your research problem.
. Focus on literature related to your research problem
Record information from the studies in the literature review chart.
Compose 2-3 pages (Microsoft Word) in which you synthesize the information you
read from the sources. This should provide background and previous work that
supports your research question.
. Compare the various findings in your sources. What do the studies have in
common? How do they differ?
Connect the literature to your research question. How will your research project
depart from or add to what has been said in your sources?
. Mistakes to Avoid:
Your literature review should NOT read like a list.
Use transitions to develop fluency.
– Show connections between the literature
. Be extremely careful with your paraphrasing. Don’t copy information.
. Use academic writing skills.
Check your sentences (avoid long sentences that are not clear) and the
grammar in general
Use APA style (check the APA supportive documents attached in this
assignment).
