Step One: In the first paragraph, compare and contrast the two speeches: \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d (excerpt) by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and \u201cThe Ballot or the Bullet\u201d speech by Malcolm X.<\/p>\n
What do they have in common? What ideas, messages, or calls to action do they share? In the same paragraph, describe how the speeches are different. How do their conclusions and recommendations contrast?<\/p>\n
Step Two: In the second and third paragraphs, use several specific moments from Anne Moody\u2019s life that you think show which speech she would agree with the most. The second and third paragraphs can also include content from the two speeches. <\/p>\n
Some students argue that Anne Moody would side with Malcolm X; other students have asserted that she was more in tune in with MLK\u2019s speech; some students have also argued that Anne Moody would agree with parts of both speeches. Other students stated that Anne\u2019s views changed over time, and that \u201cyounger\u201d Anne Moody would like one speech, but \u201colder\u201d Anne Moody would prefer the other.<\/p>\n
