Instructions:
1. Review the \u201cBusiness Law News\u201d list of articles in this document to become familiar with examples of legal research topics.
I would like you to read a few of these items to teach you about legal issues that affect the operation of business.
2. Next, you should choose one of the topics identified or use them as a reference for knowing how to choose some other legal issue you would be interested in studying.
3. Following approval of your topic, you will do legal research on your subject and include the following discussion in a 3 to 5-page memo.
a. Identify statutes (federal, state, or both) that identify the social policy governing your area of interest.
b. Identify regulations (federal, state, or both) that implement the policy reflected in the statutes identified and discuss how they are used or applied.
c. Share your opinion about the law and regulations you have selected as a research project.
i. Are these good laws and regulations?
ii. Do you have any recommendations?
iii. What do you think is or will be the impact of these laws and regulations?
d. IMPORTANT: Use the references provided on page three of this document that give you guidance on how to write a legal or business memo. There is no requirement I am imposing for how you use these references. I simply would like you to have some general standard to apply in crafting a good business memo about legal issues impacting business.
