It developed an entrepreneurial culture that ensured that its staff thought innovatively. Subsequently, MediSys Corp had many projects at different developmental stages in which IntensCare was one of them. IntensCare was an initiative, which originated from one of the employees. Although the culture initially bore fruits, it recently resulted in slow growth.<\/p>\n<p> The company\u2019s board felt there was intense competition from rivals that had entered the sector and hence they decided to change their strategy. The newly appointed president, Art Beaumont, was to be responsible for upholding the original culture while re-enhancing fast growth. In order to achieve this, Beaumont re-organized the organizational structure by forming a core team that consisted of top managers from all functional segments to accomplish final production. Thus, team members were to work in both the core team and their departments, something that resulted in a narrower control span aimed to improve decision-making efficiency. Nevertheless, employees\u2019 autonomy felt discouraged. It also promoted overly tight supervision.<\/p>\n<p> The president formed a product development process, which was formalized. Through speeding the process, Beaumont believed the company would outcompete other players. Every core team was assigned a project leader to monitor their individual departments and liaise with senior management. This new structure resulted in tension amongst workers despite its good look theoretically.<\/p>\n<p> The new structure did not change the manner in which evaluation and reporting took place; workers went on to report to their functional managers that continued supervising and evaluating them. Workers were forcefully moved from their functional areas of expertise to be involved in the new initiative; but were still responsible and were evaluated in their functional areas in those areas. The employees felt less motivated.
