Customizing an Advanced Presentation<\/p>\n
GETTING STARTED<\/p>\n
Open the file SC_PPT19_CS4-7a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.<\/p>\n
Save the file as SC_PPT19_CS4-7a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the \u201c1\u201d to a \u201c2\u201d.<\/p>\n
If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.<\/p>\n
To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:<\/p>\n

Support_PPT19_CS4-7a_Team.mp4<\/p>\n
Support_PPT19_CS4-7a_Tune.mp3<\/p>\n
With the file SC_PPT19_CS4-7a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.<\/p>\n
If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.<\/p>\n
PROJECT STEPS<\/p>\n
As a consultant for Salvia Consulting Company, you are developing a presentation for your manager, Maya Patel, to show to prospective employees. Insert an audio file on Slide 1 as follows to attract attention to the presentation:<\/p>\n
Insert an audio clip from the file Support_PPT19_CS4-7a_Tune.mp3.<\/p>\n
Position the audio clip in the lower-right corner of the slide.<\/p>\n
Change the audio clip to start playing the audio clip automatically.<\/p>\n
Change the audio clip to loop until stopped.<\/p>\n
Change the volume to Low.<\/p>\n
Hide the audio clip object during the slide show.<\/p>\n
Change a slide master as follows to use a custom layout and design for some slides:<\/p>\n
Display Slide 2 (“Make a Difference”), and then in Slide Master View, duplicate the Two Content Layout. <\/p>\n
Use Section Opener as the name of the new layout, replacing the placeholder name of 1_Two Content.<\/p>\n
Insert the company logo from the file Support_PPT19_CS4-7a_Logo.png.<\/p>\n
Resize the logo to a height of 1.5″ and a width of 1.5″.<\/p>\n
Crop the logo to an oval.<\/p>\n
Move the logo to the upper-right corner of the slide master.<\/p>\n
Close Slide Master View.<\/p>\n
Apply the new Section Opener layout to slides 2, 5, and 8.<\/p>\n
Switch to Slide Sorter View and work with sections as follows to reorganize the slides:<\/p>\n
Add a section between slides 7 and 8.<\/p>\n
Use Knowledge as the name of the new section.<\/p>\n
Collapse all the sections, and then change their order as follows:

Expand all the sections, and then return to Normal View.<\/p>\n
On Slide 2, compress the picture on the right to Web (150 ppi) to reduce the file size of the presentation.<\/p>\n
Still on Slide 2, add the Chime sound to the animation of the picture on the left.<\/p>\n
On Slide 3 (“Transform a Business”), respond to the comment from Maya Patel as follows:<\/p>\n
Type Okay, I deleted it. as the reply.<\/p>\n
Delete the bullet point as Maya recommends, and then close the Comments pane.<\/p>\n
Remaining on Slide 3, apply the Dotted: 30% pattern fill to the slide background to make it lighter while still contrasting with the other slides.<\/p>\n
Still on Slide 3, modify the picture of an office building as follows to add visual interest without being distracting:<\/p>\n
Apply the artistic effect Mosaic Bubbles (4th column, 3rd row in the Artistic Effects gallery).<\/p>\n
Remove the animation.<\/p>\n
Still on Slide 3, add the following alt text to the picture of the office building so that screen readers can identify the picture:

On Slide 4 (“Change the World”), format the slide background as follows to make the foreground content easier to read:<\/p>\n
Change the transparency of the picture to 70%.<\/p>\n
Change the Offset Top and Offset Bottom settings to 0%.<\/p>\n
Remaining on Slide 4, edit the bullets as follows to add contrast to the slide:<\/p>\n
Change the square bullets in the bulleted list to checkmarks (Wingdings 252).<\/p>\n
Change the size of the checkmark bullets to 110% of the text.<\/p>\n
Still on Slide 4, format and animate the picture of the globe as follows to draw attention to the slide:<\/p>\n
Change the direction of the Float In animation so that the globe floats Up.<\/p>\n
Add the Spin Emphasis animation to the picture of the globe.<\/p>\n
On Slide 5 (“Gain Business Knowledge”), edit the comment by changing the word “global” to worldwide to correct the comment.<\/p>\n
On Slide 6 (“Learn about Industries”), format the text in the text box as follows to make it easy to read:<\/p>\n
Format the text in 2 columns.<\/p>\n
Change the line spacing to Single.<\/p>\n
Still on Slide 6, modify the animations of the pictures as follows make them more consistent and smoother:<\/p>\n
Copy the animation from the Global Manufacturing picture to the Smart Energy picture.<\/p>\n
Use the Animation Pane to reorder the pictures so that the Smart Energy picture is animated first. (Hint: The Smart Energy picture is Picture 3.)<\/p>\n
Add a delay of 00.50 seconds to the animation of the Smart Energy picture.<\/p>\n
On Slide 7 (“Ongoing Projects”), modify the pie chart as follows to make the data more accurate and easier to interpret.<\/p>\n
Change the pie chart to a Clustered Bar chart.<\/p>\n
Change the chart colors to Monochromatic Palette 5.<\/p>\n
Edit the chart data to use 500,000 as the earnings amount for the Hospitality industry.<\/p>\n
Remaining on Slide 7, modify the table as follows to make the contents more understandable: <\/p>\n
Split the header cell (the cell in row 1) into 2 columns and 1 row. <\/p>\n
Move the text “SCC Employees” into the new cell (row 1, column 2).<\/p>\n
Merge the cells in row 2.<\/p>\n
Center the text in the merged cell.<\/p>\n
Apply the shading Aqua, Accent 5, Lighter 40% (9th column, 4th row in the Theme Colors palette) to the merged cell.<\/p>\n
Preview and test the annotation options of the slide show as follows:<\/p>\n
Start playing the slide show on Slide 7. <\/p>\n
Use the Pen in its default color to circle the “Information” data (the text and the bar).<\/p>\n
End the slide show and keep the annotation.<\/p>\n
On Slide 8 (“Design Your Future”), read the comment, and then delete it since it is no longer needed.<\/p>\n
Still on Slide 8, change the left margin of the “Connect with mentors and colleagues.” text box to 0.25″ to display the text on two lines.<\/p>\n
On Slide 9 (“Career Paths”), add and modify animations to emphasize the career paths as follows:<\/p>\n
Apply the Lines motion path animation to the “Work with clients” text box. <\/p>\n
Change the Lines motion path animation to move from left to right.<\/p>\n
Extend the Lines motion path animation in a straight line until the left edge of the “Work with clients” text box is aligned with the left edge of the “Technology” shape.<\/p>\n
Dim the text in the “Work with clients” text box to gray (the 5th color in the color choices) after the animation.<\/p>\n
Add a trigger to the animations of the “Provide business support” text box and the four blue shapes so that the animations start when the “See More” button is clicked. (Hint: The “See More” button is the Rounded Rectangle 12 shape.)<\/p>\n
On Slide 10 (“Ready to Work with Salvia Consulting?”), insert and format a video as follows to show Salvia Consulting employees at work:<\/p>\n
Insert the video Support_PPT19_CS4-7a_Team.mp4.<\/p>\n
Resize the video to a height of 4″ and a width of 7.11″ if necessary.<\/p>\n
Align the video in the center and the middle of the slide.<\/p>\n
Modify the video as follows to help viewers focus on the content:<\/p>\n
Change the video to start playing When Clicked On.<\/p>\n
Change the video to play full screen.<\/p>\n
Trim the video so that it ends at the 00:08 mark.<\/p>\n
Apply the Glow Rectangle video style.<\/p>\n
Mark the presentation as final.<\/p>\n
Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project. <\/p>\n
