I would not be surprised to learn that employee turnover is very high. The leaders and supervisors in this company need to improve employee recognition and training/development behaviors. Employee’s current feelings regarding questions such as “When people work extra hard to meet our goals they are rewarded accordingly” and “My supervisor talks with me to help me determine my training and development goals” are only 31% and 25% favorable, respectively. And one of the most telling results is that only 38% of employees find their “work gives [them] a sense of personal accomplishment.” Employees are not happy. They are not supported or encouraged by leadership. Leaders within the company need to improve both sides of their communication skills – communicating effectively based on your audience, AND listening attentively to the thoughts, ideas, suggestions of others. Employees need to feel safe discussing concerns, improvements, or ideas with their supervisors. The leaders in the company should facilitate these discussions with their subordinates and seek feedback or input from them. They should also openly discuss an employee’s professional goals and find ways to support their employees along the way. Leaders need to approach these interactions with a high level of emotional intelligence, which is particularly important given the current environment. Employees do not feel like they can trust their supervisors. They do not feel safe or supported to share their thoughts and feelings. In order to change that and initiate better communication, leaders must be aware that their employees will hold onto their reservations and it may take time to build trust within the organization. The company leaders must put in the time and effort it takes to foster healthy working relationships in order to see any significant improvements.

If done tactfully and with great care, employees may begin to trust the leaders of the company again. Once employees feel safe and supported in their roles, the organization can flourish with new ideas and process improvement initiatives that had previously not been explored. Employees will feel a sense of accomplishment from their work which will motivate them work harder as well. If they receive regular feedback, recognition for their efforts, and encouragement the company will see their overall performance improve over time. And if employee turnover is an issue right now, that should begin to decrease as well.

3-1 Discussion Tiffany Sweet posted Aug 15, 2021 7:57 PM The employee satisfaction survey results indicate that employee satisfaction is decreasing across all employee/employer focus areas.
