Micro Paper (100 points): The paper will be on a Microeconomics(!) subject of your choice. You could choose to extend your knowledge into an area we covered in class or a topic that we did not address. The paper will be due the last week of class; 3 to 5 pages including graphs and citations (min of 3). 1.5 space with 10\/12 font.<\/p>\n
Grading is based on writing quality (50%) and the depth of your ideas (50%). The paper is 16% of the course grade.<\/p>\n
Take one subject area we’ve discussed and dig deeper into the issues or a related issue. Some ideas for topics are:<\/p>\n
These are just a handful of ideas to get you thinking. You can do one of these but hopefully, you have another topic that has caught your interest. In general, I’d like to see a creative topic that is narrow enough to give a solid discussion in five pages.<\/p>\n
So don’t just write about “China” write about the trade war, Coronavirus, or other still very important sub-topic.<\/p>\n
I’m glad to review your idea before you get too far into writing and researching. I suggest you begin looking around the internet for good resources.<\/p>\n
What it takes to produce an \u201cA\u201d paper\u2026.<\/p>\n
1. Find an interesting, niche topic suitably narrow to cover well in five pages! This search could take a couple of hours (!) but sets you up for a great paper. Also make sure that you have several good sources.<\/p>\n
2. Reference 3 to 10 articles\/blogs\/websites.<\/p>\n
3. Have a point! Argue one or both sides of a debate. <\/p>\n
4. Include visual aids \u2013 data graphs or pictures.<\/p>\n
5. Have a logical flow \u2013 introduction, main body, conclusion. Use sub-headings.<\/p>\n
6. In total, writing an excellent 5-page research paper can take around 10 hours!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
