Although the United States is among the wealthiest<\/p>\n\n\n\n
nations in the world, it is far from being the healthiest. Life<\/p>\n\n\n\n
expectancy and survival rates in the United States have<\/p>\n\n\n\n
improved dramatically over the past century, but<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Americans have shorter lifespans and experience more<\/p>\n\n\n\n
illness than people in other high-income countries. This<\/p>\n\n\n\n
assignment gives you an opportunity to put together what<\/p>\n\n\n\n
you have learned in this course, including, but not limited<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a) public health policy, policymaking process, and law;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
b) public health and the legal system;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
c) individual and human rights in public health; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
d) social justice, ethics and public health policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Choose a contemporary public health issue (e.g.,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
bioterrorism, gun violence, or natural disasters like<\/p>\n\n\n\n
hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires), its impact on public<\/p>\n\n\n\n
health, and strategies for mitigating and managing it once<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the issue occurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
