After some discussion and comparing buses to cars and other things that go, she wrote the sentence below. (bus is something to driv.)<\/p>\n<p> I asked the focus learner about the word drive, and if she heard the long \/i\/ sound (and wrote the symbol for the long vowel sound above the letter i, so how should that be spelled? She verbally said the rule about the \u201cmagic e\u201d at the end of words that make the vowel say its name. Then she fixed it (below) to put the \u201cmagic e\u201d at the end. <\/p>\n<p> I then had her read the sentence that she wrote and asked if there was something missing to make the sentence make sense. I wrote \u201cAre we missing something\u201d at the top with an arrow pointing to in front of the bus.
