Patient is a young man from the minority African community, whose <\/p>\n
What was your intervention? <\/p>\n
Teletherapy tailored to his specific needs, and available through video call and direct messaging.<\/p>\n
How will the patient, family, or group apply the intervention? <\/p>\n
By signing up for teletherapy service via the internet<\/p>\n
Utilizing services on a weekly subscription basis which is billed every 4 weeks.<\/p>\n
How often will the intervention be used and under what circumstances? <\/p>\n
Patient intends to use service at least once a week, and may reduce to once a month because of cost.<\/p>\n
How easy was it for the patient, family, or group to use the intervention?<\/p>\n
Patient is able to sign up relatively easily via the company website.<\/p>\n
Describe any challenges associated with the patient, family, or group\u2019s use of the intervention.<\/p>\n
: The service is not covered under state run medical insurance so his use is cost prohibitive.<\/p>\n
The cost of therapy through BetterHelp ranges from $60 to $90 per week (billed every 4 weeks) and it is based on your location, preferences, and therapist availability. <\/p>\n
Service can take a few hours or days before a Therapist is matched to the patient.<\/p>\n
Were instructions necessary?<\/p>\n
Instructions are available on the Betterhealth website and were very straightforward for the patient.<\/p>\n
What did the patient, family, or group say about using the intervention?<\/p>\n
He is looking forward to being able to speak to someone without being hospitalized a long period of time and to prevent hospitalization.<\/p>\n
Was the intervention helpful? <\/p>\n
The patient feels optimistic about having teletherapy as a resource while dealing with mental health issues especially during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
How will the patient, family, or group continue to use the intervention? <\/p>\n
Patient intends to communicate with the therapist on a weekly basis initially and then as needed<\/p>\n
Explain how the intervention positively or negatively affected the patient, family, or group\u2019s life. <\/p>\n
As he has not been able to begin at this time he has not been able to judge the quality of the therapy as yet.<\/p>\n
the knowledge of this service and others like it have increased the mood and outlook of the patient.<\/p>\n
The attention and understanding toward this issue during this time have also reduced stress and anxiety for the patient.<\/p>\n
How can the effect be measured? <\/p>\n
Through the patients use of the intervention<\/p>\n
By circumventing the need of hospitalizations<\/p>\n
Allowing the patient to feel more in control of his mental health needs.<\/p>\n
Update the total number of hours on the NURS-FPX4900 Volunteer Experience Form in CORE ELMS.<\/p>\n

I was initially intimidated by difficulty of practicum, due to my work schedule. I was pleasantly surprised how I was able to work with the professor and able to do the practicum portion.
