Choose any one concept covered in that assigned course material. Usually that course material is a textbook chapter or a lecture or set of lectures. <\/p>\n
What counts as a \u201cconcept\u201d depends somewhat on the material:<\/p>\n
It could be a subheading in the textbook.<\/p>\n
It could be a personality trait or another way of conceptualizing personality.<\/p>\n
It could be a big picture point that was the focus of a lecture or chapter. For example, after the segment on Self-Compassion, you may choose to use self-compassion overall as your concept.<\/p>\n
It could also be a concept that is part of the larger concept. For example, after the segment on Self-Compassion, you may choose to use one of the subscales, or a concept about the research methods, psychometrics, theorizing, etc.)<\/p>\n
Explain the personality concept, providing enough information to allow the reader to understand it and to show that you have a full understanding of that concept:<\/p>\n
Use your own words. Be careful not to plagiarize from the course material or other sources. Explain it as if you were teaching it to someone who was unfamiliar with it.<\/p>\n
If research methods, controversies, or strengths or weaknesses of that concept are important for understanding that concept, include them. For example, in the Case Studies example above, you might write about the weaknesses of case studies as a research method.<\/p>\n
Explain one way that concept connects to your life. Examples include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n
How the concept describes, explains, or predicts something in your life.<\/p>\n
An example of the concept from your life or the life of someone you know.<\/p>\n
