Should we live indefinitely, or should there be limits? Justify your response.

When it comes to how long to live no one has found out the limit, but with continuous improvement on medical assistance, to the improvement of the environment clean, safe water and food and the improvement of nutrients. But I think an ideal life span would be long enough to sustain your activity, it would depend on the individual situation, however, many people are capable to live an independent and enjoyable live well into their 90s, so I would estimate between 80-97 years old. I do not think we should live indefinitely because living indefinitely means the earth’s population will skyrocket putting an enormous burden on the finite natural resources and eventually draining the planet. when there are no resources the quality of life will drastically drop.

Reference.

Rettner, R. E.g., Health technology has helped humans understand the bad impacts of substances on health and thus limiting their exposure so that humans can possibly relish a longer life span.

2. The implications could be summed up as-

The dependency ratio would increase drastically given the condition that aging people live on indefinitely.

The geriatric care cost would be astronomically high considering that aged populations are more vulnerable to outbreaks and infections.

The psychological impact of the dominance of the aged population in the demographics cannot be underestimated. With the dominance of the aged people, the demographic sinks.

This would be a healthcare challenge since it would be a tedious task catering to a large number of aged persons at short notice and affordable cost. Hence, the healthcare services would be under severe stress.

3. The cautionary tale behind the short story is after the impact of aging in society which has not been paid enough attention to.

4. A healthy life should be long enough to sustain one’s own conduct and activity. This would be variable but can extend between 80 to 90 years. There are limits to human existence since the resources at the planets are limited and with the population growth continuing, it becomes imperative that death should occur at the other end of the demographic spectrum. Hence, death is certain and time is the key.

Reply to Thread

READINGS

Brazier, Y.
