Write your personal responses or reflections on the issues the author raises, particularly in his critique and caution for today\u2019s Christians, churches, and society. <\/p>\n
Try not to discuss these in sweeping, broad, theoretical, and generic terms. Think about your own discipleship, your church, your ministry, your social and political environment, so that your response to the chapter takes on a personal, invested perspective. <\/p>\n
There is no need to summarize the chapter, as I am interested in your thoughts and engagement with the author. <\/p>\n
Do not simply use the chapter as a springboard to talk about your own views about the topic. <\/p>\n
Do not write a sermon or give a speech on the topic. Rather, think about what Starling has to say and enter into a dialogue with him. <\/p>\n
If a particular point strikes you as interesting, explain how it resonates with you or how it is relevant to your context. <\/p>\n
You do not always have to agree with the author. There may be times when you think, \u201cYes, but…\u201d If you have a different take or point of view, feel free to share that. <\/p>\n
