When writing this paper please imagine that you are involved as a masters prepared nurse in providing health related services in Paterson, NJ (direct care, administration and\/or education). Discuss recommended strategies to address this health concern and the evidence supporting these recommendations. Please discuss your opinion of the relevance and cultural implications of these benchmarks and strategies to the population you are focusing on. Are there other benchmarks and\/or strategies that you would propose, if so please discuss and provide a rationale. <\/p>\n
D. Policy Action Addendum: Of the strategies to address this health care concern discussed to this point, please identify one or two strategies and discuss potential options for policy advancement that would support the strategy. Please recall that the policy advancement may be related to judicial, legislative, administrative or regulatory policy, institutional policy or other non-governmental policy. You might ask yourself: \u2018what needs to change to better be able to engage this strategy and address this health issue, how might this relate to policy change and how would this change be made?\u2019 This is an opportunity to be intellectually creative and your ideas here should be informed by, but not limited to, the methods and examples covered thus far in your course work. Integration Policy Action Addendum: shows well informed and creative envisioning of policy advancement ideas specifically related to addressing given health issue. [25%]<\/p>\n

Please be persistent – the NJSHAD system is not, in my opinion, easy to navigate for municipal data. You will find on NJSHAD data on municipal mortality rates\u00a0may\u00a0be limited for morbidity\u00a0municipal measures. So, you will need to\u00a0also look at county and national data regarding the health issue\/concern that you focus on. It may be helpful to look at the identified concern and associations with socioeconomic status, age, gender, race, ethnicity, environmental conditions etc. You may find municipal health data from other sources such as a hospital or public health department community health needs assessment. In general, there is much more epidemiological data available on the county level; here again you will need to think through how this data would be likely to apply to Paterson (or not).<\/p>\n
Benchmarks:As you work on your Case Study\/Policy Paper you will notice that part C of the paper asks you to identify \u201cBenchmarks\u201d and strategies.\u00a0 Please keep in mind that public health benchmarks are goals set by governments or other organizations that usually specify a goal by a specific number. This number is based both on the ideal public health state and on a judgment of what might be possible given the current public health status of the issue and the available methods for progress. So, a benchmark might go by that name or might be a public health \u201cobjective\u201d of \u201cgoal\u201d.
