Any student who experiences problems uploading their work on Turnitin should take a screen shot and immediately (no more than 15min after the deadline) e-mail their work and the screen shot to their seminar tutor.<\/p>\n<p> TITLE<\/p>\n<p> Give your work a title with reference to the question selected.<\/p>\n<p> 1. INTRODUCTION (Approx 500 words)<\/p>\n<p> It is meant to inform the reader about three main things: what the student is going to do; why the subject is important and for whom (i.e. contributions to theory and practice); and how this is going to be done. For example the student could start by introducing:<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; general issues regarding the subject\/topic in question<\/p>\n<p> 2. MAIN BODY SECTION (a subtitle here is advisable) (Approx 1,000 words \u2013 Section 2 &amp; 2.1)<\/p>\n<p> This section develops the key issues introduced above i.e. by analysing the nature of the topic e.g. different schools of thought; key concepts have to be defined. For example:<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; make clear who says what (theories\/authors) and why this is important for your analysis<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; illustrate with cases studies\/examples if relevant for your essay<\/p>\n<p> The main body of the work will involve discussion which:<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; addresses the criticisms against the ideas\/concepts\/theories above (e.g. different theoretical perspectives in relation to the topic; lack of empirical information, etc.)<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; This is the place to be critical on the subject using extant literature.<\/p>\n<p> 3. CONCLUSIONS (Approx 500 words)<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; summarise what has been done<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; summarise the main findings of the study<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; the student may also have his\/her own ideas\/opinion which could support or contradict what have been said earlier. <\/p>\n<p> &#8211; outline your own main reflections on the subject\/study (i.e. what you have learnt from it)<\/p>\n<p> 4. REFERENCES<\/p>\n<p> List here all of the references cited or quoted throughout the text (e.g. books; handbooks; journal articles; government reports, etc.) (use the Harvard referencing system). <\/p>\n<p> PRACTICAL ADVICE:<\/p>\n<p> Keep focus on set question<\/p>\n<p> Have a proper essay\u2019s structure in place<\/p>\n<p> When giving examples, explain \u2018who\u2019, \u2018when, \u2018how\u2019, \u2018where\u2019 otherwise not an example<\/p>\n<p> Additional bibliography to the recommended texts MUST be used<\/p>\n<p> Introductory sentences are very important<\/p>\n<p> Avoid long sentences<\/p>\n<p> Avoid colloquial language (\u2018a lot of&#8230;\u2019; \u2018to come out with&#8230;\u2019; \u2018does not\u2019 instead of \u2018doesn\u2019t)<\/p>\n<p> Consistence (first or third person; font size; bold; subtitles)<\/p>\n<p> Editing work prior to submission required<\/p>\n<p> Wikipedia is not an academic source of reference; neither is a search tools like Google.com<\/p>\n<p> Each reference\/citation\/ quotation made in the main text must be in the Reference Section at the back and vice versa.
