Use it to help you construct your program critique activities in the course.<\/p>\n<p> The first step to critiquing an article is to understand the difference between the verbs \u201cto criticize\u201d and \u201cto critique.\u201d According to Seager (2018), \u201ccriticism is judgmental and focused on finding fault, while critique is descriptive and balanced\u201d (para. 6). The following chart compares these two actions:<\/p>\n<p> Critique<\/p>\n<p> Criticism<\/p>\n<p> Comes from a position of expertise<\/p>\n<p> Comes from a position of ignorance<\/p>\n<p> Constructive (offers ideas to improve components of the program) <\/p>\n<p> Destructive (emphasizes what was done wrong) <\/p>\n<p> Selfless (respects the author\u2019s work)<\/p>\n<p> Selfish (advances personal goals)<\/p>\n<p> Specific<\/p>\n<p> Vague<\/p>\n<p> Focuses on the creation of the program and its component parts<\/p>\n<p> Focuses on the creator of the program<\/p>\n<p> Offered to assist the author<\/p>\n<p> Offered to highlight faults within the work<\/p>\n<p> The program critique assignments ask that you critique a program described within an identified article. These articles were chosen because they relate to the module\u2019s topics and demonstrate some common problems that programs encounter. Critique the program\u2019s components\u2014its resources, activities, outcome measures, and use of feedback loops. Find areas that could be\/need to be improved and offer recommendations. The following outline will help you structure your critique. We have also included a Sample Critique for you to review.<\/p>\n<p> Critique Paper<\/p>\n<p> Format your cover page per APA guidelines.<\/p>\n<p> Introduce the assigned article with the title, authors, and an appropriate citation. Present the main point of the article. Describe the health or healthcare need or disparity the program tries to address.<\/p>\n<p> Briefly summarize the program described within the article. Include a description of the program\u2019s goals and desired outcomes.<\/p>\n<p> Identify key resources and activities used.<\/p>\n<p> Determine if the desired results were achieved. Did the author(s) report statistical significance?<\/p>\n<p> Describe any actions the program takes to adjust and improve. <\/p>\n<p> Review the program aspects you believe were well done; review the aspects you believe should be strengthened. <\/p>\n<p> Summarize your analysis of the program.<\/p>\n<p> Offer recommendations for future programs designed to address similar needs or disparities.<\/p>\n<p> Reference<\/p>\n<p> Seager, T.
