Objective:<\/p>\n
To assess the periodontal disease status of female high school students aged 15-18 years old in Riyadh.<\/p>\n
Materials & Methods:<\/p>\n
Target population:<\/p>\n
Female high school students aged 15-18 years old in Riyadh.<\/p>\n
Sample size:<\/p>\n
964 students.<\/p>\n
Method of data collection: <\/p>\n
By self-administered questionnaire and clinical examination.<\/p>\n
Year of data collection: <\/p>\n
2021-2022.<\/p>\n
Study instruments and supplies:<\/p>\n
Disposable examination kit.<\/p>\n
Disposable gloves and masks.<\/p>\n
Examination napkins.<\/p>\n
Gauze.<\/p>\n
Tongue retractors.<\/p>\n
Hand sanitizers.<\/p>\n
Head light.<\/p>\n
Study procedures:<\/p>\n
Initial permission was taking from the schools to examine the students. Additionally, official letters were send to each school from PNU to confirm the approval.<\/p>\n
A calibration and training session was carried out in D4 class room under supervision to ensure adequate consistency between different examiners and uniform applications of the diagnostic criteria for different oral diseases.<\/p>\n
A total number of 4 schools were visited in 3 weeks from 7:30 a.m until 11:30 a.m. In each visit:<\/p>\n
The group members started by organising the examination area (by placing the instruments needed for examination and the educational resources). Before starting the examination each student was asked to take a survey about oral and dentition health. <\/p>\n
Two group members were responsible for examination of the students class by class, following the diagnostic protocol learned in the calibration and training session. Additional two group members were sitting nearby to record the data related to each student. <\/p>\n
Finally, the examined students were gathered in the classroom and were given a brief presentation about oral health.<\/p>\n
Statistical analysis:<\/p>\n
It was done using excel and the collected data was demonstrated in form of tables and charts.<\/p>\n
