Shift Duration Effect

Emergency medical services (EMS) across the country face various hot topic discussions related to issues, such as community paramedicine (CP), provider fatigue, and provider burnout.

For this assignment, imagine that you have been asked by your agency’s leadership team to address an increase in vehicle accidents involving agency vehicles as well as a rise in clinical errors ever since changing schedules from 8-hour shifts to 24-hour shifts. The leadership team has also asked you to identify whether the new shift patterns are increasing fatigue.

To complete this assignment, you will locate five sources that cover these topics and create an annotated bibliography for each. Each annotated bibliography should include the reference with a summary underneath it of at least 100 words. You can include any identified issues with shift rotations and any potential solutions.

Your assignment must be a minimum of three pages in length, not including the reference page. Include at least one source from the CSU Online Library for this assignment.

Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references. APA formatting of your entire transcript, however, is not necessary. A cover page is not required. Every source used is peer-reviewed or academic in nature.
