The Strategic Research Proposal asks you for your initial outline and assessment of the major strategic issues the business or organisation faces over the next 3-10 years. It also asks you to outline the strategic analysis tools/frameworks etc that you envisage being most useful for your analysis and your initial evaluation to ensure relevant strategic information is available on the Strategic Business Unit or organisation.
The report allows you to demonstrate your skills at assessing which strategy analysis models and tools are most suitable for identifying and assessing the issues that the Strategic Business Unit or organisation is likely to face over the next 3-10 years, through the application of the relevant strategy analysis models and tools.
Generic Individual Report Structure
Individual Project Report structure could be as follows: Executive Summary of major strategic issues and strategy recommendations Introduction (Use brief names for Strategic Issues 1-3) eg”New EntrantsIncreasingCompetition”–Strategic Issue 1-why it is an important strategic issue and its potential impact(s) Strategic Issue 2 – why it is an important strategic issue and its potential impact(s) Strategic Issue 3 – why it is an important strategic issue and its potential impact(s) Strategy Recommendation – how you would recommend the Business should address these major strategic issues
Organization I chose is: ALDI AUSTRALIA
Listed below are the following 3 strategic issues I have chosen (Also attached a file with brief proposal of Aldi & discussion related to the following issues, refer to that for guidance):
Strategic issue 1: Increase in intensity of rivalry amongst competitors & supplier cost:
Strategic issue 2: Aldi has not yet implemented e-commerce strategy
Strategic issue 3: Increase of threat in relation to product substitution & bargaining power.
I have attached an example document (previous submission by past student) as a guideline to what the final project should look like along with what are the titles and structures, writing and research method along with presentation style required for the assignment
Other requirement notes: Individual Report – 10-12 pages, including Executive Summary plus any supporting Appendices that are relevant to your report. Word limit: Around 2000. Involve tables and graphs . Perhaps do a SWAT or PESTEL analysis for Aldi. Complete Harvard referencing (At least 10 relevant references. Example Aldi Australia website, Official Aldi Australia reports, Industry reports, Journal articles, News articles etc)
