As you read Chapter Eight I would like you to ponder why some people might see a police officer standing over students using chalk to express freedom as a form of protection, and others as a threat. Does anthropological research give us some insight into this dilemma?
Next, I would like you ALL to view As the River Runs. Comment on this special topic by reference to at least one point raised in the Chapter Eight that might shed light on issues of either power, race, violence, or dispute resolution.
