How can you tell if a company has a fraudulent product? Everyone knows manufacturers are known for exaggerating the facts about their products, so should a line be drawn between advertising and false advertising? And if so, where should that line be drawn? Shouldn’t one person’s testimony that a product works be enough to qualify that the product information is not false? Chapter 3 in your text, discusses how “many researchers have a vested interest in their research results. If scientists have financial ties to their research, should their research still be valid, even if they disclose this information? How should web information, advertisements and sales be regulated? Who is responsible for stopping fraudulent claims on the web?
