In order to be successful in this program, you must demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of APA citations style. It will be necessary for you to cite using APA style in your coursework.
During this orientation course you are required to obtain the Penn State APA Style Citations Badge.
By now you should have already created an account, but if you have not done so yet, do that now by going to Penn State Digital Badges learning space in order to access the instructional materials.
Penn State APA Style Citations Badge
The following are the steps to earn the badge:
- Step 1: Articulating your understanding of APA style citations,
- Step 2: Completing the APA Style Citations Modules, and
- Step 3: Reflecting on Knowledge Gained and Remaining Questions.
Access the APA Style Citations Badge website (Links to an external site.) to review and complete the 3 steps to earn the badge.
It will take less than an hour to complete the training and earn the badge.
In order to attain the badge, you will need to complete the following:
- Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3: A Penn State librarian will review the evidence you submit to the APA Style Citations activities that you participate in and provide the course instructor with a report about your progress.
- Step 2: In addition to the evidence you will submit there will be a quiz that you complete for Step 2 will be automatically graded and you will need to score an 80% or higher. You will be able to retake the quiz as many times as needed until you receive an 80%. Again, the course instructor will be provided with a report acknowledging that you have accomplished this step.
Notes:
- Some other courses may also require this digital badge. If you have already completed the APA Style Citations Badge, please contact your instructor to determine what documentation to provide or what additional steps to take in order to receive credit.
- Since you will be completing this assignment through the Penn State APA Style Citations Badge website, you will NOT need to submit anything to this assignment. Please be sure to reach out to your instructor if you have any questions or concerns related to academic integrity before proceeding in the course.
