Each student will conduct research on an artist OR specific work (if artist is unknown) and produce a theme paper about the artist or work. The paper will describe the work or artist in terms of the aesthetic criteria discussed in class, perform a formal analysis of the work or artist’s work, and place the art in context (history, time period, what influenced the work and what it influenced). In the process of conducting appropriate research, proper sources for your research must contain citable bibliographic material that is peer-reviewed and authoritative as primary sources to include in your research paper.
