Leadership and Motivation Psychology:Overview
Being able to explain the complicated systems of individual and group psychological processes involved in motivation is an essential skill that can be practiced by evaluating scenarios where effective motivation appears to be impaired. Assessing and proposing interventions for motivational deficiencies helps you connect both the basic and applied principles of motivation within organizations to “real life” scenarios. Furthermore, assessing an actual scenario helps you gain practical skills in regards to assessing, planning, proposing, and providing support for a motivation intervention based on scientific theories. Lastly, proposing a motivational intervention enables you to apply both the research and principles of motivation to work-related decisions.
Instructions
For this assignment, you will complete a 4–5-page Motivational Theory Intervention paper. You must rely on the motivational theories learned from the Latham text (provided in attachments). Reference: Latham, G. P. (2012). Work motivation: History, theory, research, and practice (2nd ed.). SAGE Publications.
For this paper, you will first create an organizational context in which employee motivation is being negatively affected. This could be because of a supervisor, work policy, culture issues, equity concerns, or other reasons. Devise a scenario in which there are multiple motivational issues of concern. This section must be at least one page.
After you set up the case, you must evaluate the situation through a motivational lens. Use motivational theory to frame the situation and propose a potential explanation for why an employee or group of employees is experiencing decreased motivation. Here you need to use both theory and research to back up your claim. This section must be at least 2 pages and use 3 research articles.
Once you offer an explanation of the situation, then you must discuss what actions you would take to resolve the issue. Based on the theoretical framework you used, explain what you would attempt to do to increase employee motivation in this situation. Make sure you rely on both research and theory in making your action plan. This section must be at least one page and use 3 peer-reviewed research articles.
