Part 1 Reflection: What are some of the ideas you have used (or you will use) on adapting lessons/ assessments to best meet the needs of your ELL students?
Reflection Submission:
All submissions should be a minimum of 250 words
Part 2 Develop an Enhanced Lesson: Reflecting on the two WIDA Focus on Differentiation Bulletins that you read, select a lesson plan that you have already completed or one you need to develop in your academic/content area. (You can develop the lesson from scratch or select one from a teacher edition, carefully vetted online resources or even use a lesson that you have created before.) Be sure to provide proper citation for using any existing lesson or topic that is not original to you. You can determine the grade level and specific subject, but it should be current to what you teach. In this lesson, you are enhancing the lesson to be inclusive of English Language Learners. Write out the lesson plan and include differentiated instruction techniques and strategies for English Language Learners.
Remember, the student(s) you are developing the lesson for come from a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. You can select one student from the student profiles you completed or you can ask colleagues to complete student profiles for you to use in developing your enhanced lesson. Include a narrative describing the students you are targeting and the expected outcome from your lesson.
Modify the lesson to meet the needs of your ELL students. Add modifications you made in BOLD. At the end of your lesson, write a short narrative as to why you selected these modifications.
