Black women are the foundation, backbone, heart, and soul of the black community and American society. I was watching a TikTok addressing the trauma that comes with being a black woman in America. Over the years, black women have been taught to change their way, from hot combs to code-switching. We’ve been called unapproachable, unprofessional, and angry. One significant thing I pulled from that 60 second TikTok is that black women shouldn’t have to be strong anymore. We should be able to be our natural, emotional, sensitive selves without judgment or microaggression.
