Summarizes, in well-developed paragraphs with appropriate topic/concluding sentences, signal verbs, and transition/linking words, the main ideas the author uses to develop the claim and concrete examples of the supporting evidence the author uses to build those main ideas
Incorporates one citation from the essay for each big idea using appropriate framing templates (“the quote burger”).
Includes a conclusion paragraph that “echoes,” but does not simply repeat, the introductory paragraph.
Uses appropriate MLA format, including in-text documentation and a Works Cited page.
*Remember that there is no “I Say” in an argument summary. This essay should simply summarize the author’s argument and evidence without including any of your own ideas, examples, or opinions.
