Responding to a student DQ Reflection is a very important aspect of the learning process that has been emphasized by many experts as a defining characteristic of professional practice. Take some time and reflect on your master’s education. Practically speaking, what were the most valuable aspect of your journey thus far (assignments, projects, activities, etc.)? What have been the biggest challenges? Finally, speculate how this degree will enhance your future and align with your passions.

While this journey has blessed me with much knowledge in the field of psychology, I have learned so much from my classmates and the feedback from my professors. I remember how going back to school seemed almost impossible, especially with four kids going to school remotely. Finding the right balance between family life and school was a huge challenge and at times a bit overwhelming. Another challenge was not being able to get more hands-on experience while going to school. While the writing assignments were many, they have sharpened my writing skills and at times my professor’s remarks have motivated me to keep going. The most valuable aspect of this journey has been the building of my knowledge, understanding of the field of psychology, and being able to discuss topics with confidence. Reflecting, I can say that it has changed me in ways I never imagined. The DQ topics gave me the opportunity to see new perspectives and at times challenged some of the ideas I previously had on various topics. I particularly learned so much when working in groups for Research Methods. I realized that I enjoy working with people on a study and perhaps research could be something I could do in the future. My dream has always been to be a psychologist and help people get to a better place by understanding the root causes of who they are, by obtaining my masters it can one day become a reality. I plan on pursuing my doctoral degree in clinical psychology and pursue my passion of helping others through research and knowledge. As this chapter of getting my masters comes to a completion, I can say that I am looking forward to where God will take me as I pursue my passion and use my gifts to make the world a better place.
